Job Description

Humedica is looking for an expert in developing supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms for natural language processing. Our goal is to extract information from unstructured clinical notes that will provide insight into the quality, safety and efficiency of the health care system.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop solutions to general NLP problems (e.g., term and structural ambiguity)
• Understand what kind of data can be extracted with the required precision and recall
• Research available techniques to decide which are most appropriate to a specific problem
• Design and implement data driven processes to extract information from clinical notes

Experience & Skills

• Familiarity with a broad range of NLP components, including collocation discovery, part of speech tagging, word sense disambiguation, grammar induction, statistical parsing
• Deep understanding of statistical techniques applied to natural language processing
• Ability to define the problem and then solve it!
• Attention to detail
• Excellent programming skills
• Bachelors or Advanced Degree in computer science
• Experience working with medical text is a definite plus
