Job Description

Humedica is looking for a Data Analyst who is passionate about building the analytic solutions that are needed in today’s dynamic health care market.  Data exploration and analytic analysis conducted by the Data Analyst will inform the building of algorithms, statistical models, and statistical graphical approaches that will be embedded within the analytic systems developed by Humedica. Our ideal candidate will combine a strong education in mathematics/applied computer science with practical experience in analytical programming.

 Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis on a large, complex, multi-table database to clarify the structure of a particular data set, determine the longitudinality of its various components, and create approaches for using the data in statistical analyses.

  • Perform exploratory analysis on data from new data contributors to develop approaches for incorporating the data into our multi-contributor analyses in a consistent manner
  • Perform exploratory analysis on new types of data that will clarify the structure of the data and how it can be used to provide disease-specific insights into the care that has been provided.
  • Research idiosyncrasies/anomalies found during analyses to determine necessary work-arounds that can be used to adjust analytic approaches for that particular data set
  • Perform data manipulations and develop algorithms that create the analytic components necessary to support statistical analyses. For example: algorithms that adjust data for events such as system conversions, algorithms that establish appropriate time windows for analysis, or algorithms that adjust for reversed transactions

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in mathematics or applied computer science or equivalent education that includes a strong emphasis on data analysis and algorithm development
  • 3-5 years direct experience working with SQL
  • Experience analyzing large complex multi-table data sets
  • Extensive experience using SQL for data manipulation and algorithm development
  • Ability to think analytically and develop approaches to generate needed metrics using SQL
  • Ability to work creatively and flexibly, both independently and as part of a team
  • Desire and ability to learn new skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • A passionate interest in working with health care data
  • Exposure to statistical packages (such as R or SAS) is desirable
  • Familiarity with the medical domain
